These Terms of Use govern access to and use of https://www.lgpsychology.co.za/, the website of Letitia Groenewald Counselling Psychologist, the sole-proprietor private psychology practice of Letitia Groenewald (“the practice”, “I”, “me” or “my”).
These Terms relate to use of the website. They do not replace the separate informed-consent, confidentiality, fees, cancellation or other practice terms applicable once a professional psychological service relationship has been established.
1. About the practice

Letitia Groenewald is a Registered Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

2. Website information is general information only
Information on this website is provided for general informational purposes and to explain the nature of the practice and psychological services offered.
Website content does not constitute individual psychological, psychiatric, medical or other professional advice.
It should not be relied upon to:
- diagnose a psychological or medical condition;
- determine whether a particular treatment is appropriate;
- replace assessment by an appropriately qualified healthcare practitioner; or
- make decisions concerning a medical or mental-health emergency.
Information that may be appropriate to one person’s circumstances may not be appropriate to another.
3. No professional relationship is created through website use
Viewing this website, sending an enquiry or email, using a contact facility or following an appointment-booking link does not by itself create a professional relationship between psychologist and client.
A professional relationship begins only once the practice has agreed to provide psychological services and the required appointment, intake and informed-consent arrangements have been completed.
The practice may determine that a requested service falls outside its scope, that referral to another practitioner or service is more appropriate, or that it is unable to accept a prospective client.
4. Appointment booking and Healthbridge
The practice uses Healthbridge for appointment management, billing and related healthcare administration.
Where the website provides a Healthbridge booking function or link, use of the Healthbridge platform may also be subject to Healthbridge’s applicable privacy documentation and terms.
An online booking request does not override:
- appointment availability;
- the practice’s intake requirements;
- clinical suitability considerations;
- applicable fees;
- cancellation arrangements; or
- the separate terms governing psychological services.
These matters are communicated through the practice’s clinical and administrative processes.
5. Emergencies and crisis situations
This website, its enquiry facilities and ordinary practice email addresses are not emergency or crisis services and are not continuously monitored.
If you or another person is in immediate danger or requires urgent mental-health or medical assistance, seek immediate emergency assistance.
In South Africa you may, depending on the circumstances:
- call 112 from a cellphone;
- call 10177 for emergency medical services;
- call 10111 where urgent police assistance is required; or
- attend the nearest hospital emergency unit.
Do not rely on a website enquiry, email or appointment request to obtain emergency assistance.
The website also lists national mental health helplines in South Africa for additional crisis and counselling support.
6. Privacy and personal information
Use of this website and personal information submitted through it are governed by the practice’s Privacy & Cookie Policy.
The Privacy & Cookie Policy explains, among other things:
- what information may be collected;
- why it is processed;
- how health and clinical information is protected;
- the roles of Healthbridge and xneelo;
- possible cross-border processing;
- your POPIA rights; and
- how to contact the Information Officer.
Formal access to records is addressed in the practice’s PAIA Manual.
7. Website hosting
This website is hosted using xneelo hosting services.
Technical information may consequently be processed as part of ordinary website hosting, security and server operation.
Further information regarding this processing is contained in the practice’s Privacy & Cookie Policy.
8. Website enquiries
Please avoid including unnecessary highly sensitive clinical information in an initial website enquiry or general email.
Where detailed clinical information is required, it can ordinarily be obtained through the appropriate intake or clinical process once arrangements for psychological services have been made.
9. Accuracy and availability
Reasonable care is taken to maintain accurate and current website information.
Information may nevertheless change, including:
- appointment availability;
- fees;
- medical-aid arrangements;
- service offerings;
- professional information;
- external links; and
- third-party technology arrangements.
The practice does not warrant that the website will always be continuously available, uninterrupted or completely free of technical errors.
Where general website information conflicts with a specific written agreement subsequently concluded between the practice and a client concerning psychological services, the applicable professional service agreement will govern that relationship to the extent permitted by law.
10. Medical-aid information
Information on this website concerning medical-aid benefits, reimbursement, PMB benefits, authorisations or claims is general in nature unless expressly confirmed in relation to a particular client.
Medical-scheme rules, authorisations and available benefits are determined by the relevant medical scheme or administrator and may differ according to a member’s plan and circumstances.
The practice cannot guarantee payment of a claim by a medical scheme merely because psychological services are eligible to be claimed.
Clients remain responsible for understanding their particular medical-aid benefits and for amounts payable in accordance with the practice’s separate billing arrangements.
11. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise indicated, original text, graphics, practice branding, logos, website design and other original material published on this website are owned by or lawfully licensed to Letitia Groenewald Counselling Psychologist.
Website material may be viewed and used for ordinary personal, non-commercial purposes.
You may not reproduce, republish, commercially exploit, substantially copy or represent original practice content as your own without permission, except to the extent that such use is permitted by law.
Rights in third-party names, trademarks, photographs, resources or other material remain with their respective rights holders where applicable.
12. Acceptable use
You may not knowingly use the website:
- for an unlawful purpose;
- to compromise or interfere with its security;
- to attempt unauthorised access to information or systems;
- to introduce malicious software;
- to impersonate another person;
- to submit deliberately fraudulent information; or
- materially to interfere with another person’s lawful use of the site.
13. Third-party websites and services
The website may contain links to independent services or organisations, including:
- Healthbridge;
- professional bodies;
- medical schemes;
- healthcare resources;
- regulators; and
- emergency or support services.
The practice does not control the content or independent privacy practices of third-party websites.
The presence of a link does not necessarily amount to endorsement of all information, services or practices of the linked organisation.
This provision does not limit any obligations the practice itself has under POPIA where another organisation acts as an operator processing personal information on behalf of the practice.
14. Website-information liability
To the extent permitted by South African law, the practice will not be responsible for loss resulting solely from unreasonable reliance on general website information as though it constituted individual professional advice.
Nothing in these Terms:
- excludes or restricts liability that cannot lawfully be excluded;
- purports to exclude liability for gross negligence where such exclusion is prohibited;
- removes rights afforded under applicable consumer legislation; or
- limits professional duties owed to a client during an established professional relationship.
This provision concerns the website and its general informational content and is not an exclusion of professional responsibility for psychological services.
15. Changes to the website or Terms
The website and these Terms may be updated from time to time.
The current Terms will be published on the website with their latest revision date.
Changes ordinarily apply to subsequent website use and do not retrospectively alter rights or obligations arising under a separate professional-service agreement unless lawfully agreed.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
Nothing in these Terms prevents a person from exercising a statutory right or approaching a regulator, professional body, ombud, tribunal or court with lawful jurisdiction.
